Keywords:

To achieve the intended goals of a literary text for students in the Arabic Language Department, certain skills related to these goals must be present in the student. These skills include the ability to understand the psychological movement within the poem, to extract the verse containing the poem's central idea, to perceive the organic unity between verses and the coherence between ideas, to assess the harmony between the idea and its expression, to appreciate the expressive value of words in a literary work, to understand the musical rhythm of the verses, and to be able to compare two or more poems on the same theme. Literature has an impact on the upbringing of nations and the formation of generations. A nation's progress may not be solely based on its material and moral resources, vast wealth, or industrial machinery, but rather on its principles, ideals, behavioral patterns, and modes of thought. Literature's destructive and constructive effects, its capacity for both demolition and construction, may differ from those of other material forces in societies. A ready-made test was obtained to measure goal orientation. After administering the test and statistically analyzing the results, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the group that received instruction.
