Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of the social networking platform YouTube on the acquisition of physics concepts among first-grade intermediate school students and to explore its use as a means of educational communication between teachers and their students. The rapid growth in the use of social networking platforms by students has prompted educators and educational institutions at various levels to seriously consider adopting new forms of distance learning. These platforms can serve as educational environments that enhance the effectiveness of the learning process and strengthen communication between teachers and students.Accordingly, the study began by defining and clarifying a number of key concepts and scientific terms essential for ensuring accuracy in educational research. These concepts included distance learning, e-learning, social networking sites, learning through social networking platforms such as YouTube, and the acquisition of physics concepts. The study also reviewed a number of successful international and Arab experiences that have effectively employed social networking platforms for educational purposes. Finally, the research presented the researcher’s own experience in using YouTube with first-grade intermediate school students as an educational tool, medium, and teaching method. The findings indicated that YouTube was effective in enhancing communication between teachers and students, despite some limitations and challenges observed during its implementation.
