Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of AI skills and the level of AI adoption on improving the performance of university libraries, through a field study conducted in the libraries of Al-Qadisiyah University. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and used a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool from a sample of (70) university library staff. The results of the statistical analysis, using SPSS (version 28), showed that the level of AI adoption and staff skills were high, with mean scores of (4.22) and (4.30), respectively, while the average performance score of the university libraries was (4.25).The correlation coefficient results revealed strong and statistically significant positive correlations between the independent variables and library performance. Linear regression analysis demonstrated that the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies explains 53.9% of the variance in library performance, while staff skills and competencies explain 58.1%. The explanatory power of the model increased to 71.6% when both variables were considered. The results also showed statistically significant differences in adoption and competency levels based on demographic variables. The study recommends systematic investment in developing staff AI competencies and strengthening the technological infrastructure of university libraries to improve the quality of information services and support digital transformation in higher education institutions.
