Abstract

This study examines the impact of the widespread use of generative artificial intelligence on people's conceptions — particularly among the young — of two interconnected creedal domains: faith in the unseen (al-ghayb) and the question of certainty (al-yaqin), now that these machines are presented to the public as an "all-knowing mind" that is questioned and consulted, its statistically generated conjectural output received as decisive fact, while synthetic media simultaneously spreads a generalized doubt that shakes confidence in every report. The research proceeds from a central question: how does this phenomenon affect the domains of the unseen and certainty, and what is the systematic creedal treatment of its effects? The study adopts the descriptive-analytical method in grounding the concepts and presenting the epistemic nature of the technology from its primary literature, and the critical method in analyzing the challenges and weighing them against the tenets of Islamic creed. It comprises two sections: the first establishes the dual grounding — the unseen and certainty within the creedal structure (concept, divisions, degrees, sources, and rules of reception), then the epistemic nature of generative AI as a statistical language-prediction system possessing neither knowledge nor understanding, deconstructing the three tributaries of the illusion of omniscience: psychological, commercial, and scientistic; the second identifies six creedal challenges — the illusion of omniscience encroaching upon the meaning of the divine name al-Alim, algorithmic divination, the dilution of the degrees of certainty, generalized doubt, emotional attachment to the machine, and cognitive dependency — then constructs the treatment upon five governing principles and an educational program of four tracks with two applied classroom models and assessment tools serving teachers and students. The study concludes that the real battle is epistemic and educational: correcting the status granted to the machine and restoring conjecture to its proper rank, and that the Ummah's heritage of report criticism and isnad constitutes a ready methodological asset for deployment in the digital environment.
