Abstract

History teaching research has witnessed rapid development in recent years as a result of educational and technological transformations that have reshaped educational goals, practices, and research methods. Bibliometric and methodological reviews have contributed to providing more comprehensive insights into the reality of scholarly output, monitoring its trends, and identifying the most prominent research topics in global literature. In this context, a number of contemporary trends stand out, most notably the development of historical thinking, evidence-based learning, digital history, the use of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and educational analytics in improving history learning and developing its educational environments. Recent literature also indicates a growing interest in designing interactive learning environments, enhancing historical and digital competencies, and expanding research collaborations among academic institutions internationally.
