This research aims to identify the role of family guidance in enhancing academic excellence among preparatory school students. The researcher adopted the descriptive correlational approach as it is suitable for the nature and objectives of the research, which seeks to reveal the level of family guidance and the level of academic excellence, and to identify the nature of the relationship between the two variables. The research population consisted of preparatory school students in schools affiliated with the Baghdad/Al-Rusafa II Directorate of Education. The research sample consisted of (400) male and female students, (200) male and (200) female, who were selected using a method appropriate for the purposes of the research. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher developed two research instruments. The first instrument was the Family Guidance Scale, which consisted of three dimensions: (family follow-up, family support and encouragement, and role modeling and behavioral guidance). The second instrument was the Academic Excellence Scale, which consisted of three dimensions: academic achievement, motivation to learn, and learning skills and study organization. The psychometric properties of both instruments were verified by establishing face validity and construct validity, as well as calculating reliability using Cronbach's alpha and test-retest reliability. The results showed that both instruments possessed acceptable levels of validity and reliability, making them suitable for application to the research sample. The research results indicated that middle school students enjoy a high level of family guidance. The results also showed a high level of academic excellence among the sample, in addition to a strong positive correlation between family guidance and academic excellence, with a correlation coefficient of 0.78. This indicates that a higher level of family guidance is associated with a higher level of academic excellence among students.
