Changes in wheat production in the Heet district for the period (2004-2024)

Abstract

This research was chosen because of the importance of the topic of changing the product’s production, as it is one of the strategic food elements that the population depends on in their daily lives. The research revealed a variation in area, machinery and production during the period (2004-2024) AD, as well as the factor of expansion in the joint administrative units of Heet, where the total global agricultural area (2003-2004) reached (9616) dunams While the total cultivated area for the agricultural season (2023-2024) AD amounted to (10999) dunams, with a change of (1383) dunams and a percentage of (14.38%), the average yield per dunam during the agricultural season (2003-2004) amounted to (400) kg/dunam, while the average yield for the agricultural season (2023-2024) AD amounted to (588) kg/dunam, with a change of (188) kg/dunam and a percentage of (46.87%). As for the production quantities for the agricultural season (2003-2004), they amounted to (4135) tons, while the production for the agricultural season (2023-2024) amounted to (7256) tons, with a change amounting to (3121) tons and a percentage of (75.47%). This variation between the years of study was contributed to by natural and human factors that promoted an increase in cultivated areas, which was reflected in an increase in production. The third section is dedicated to measuring the change that occurred in the cultivation and production of the wheat crop. Therefore, the problem of the study came about: Is there a change in the cultivation and production of the wheat crop in the district of Hit during the period (2004-2024)? Is this change negative or positive? What are the geographical factors that caused this change? The study hypothesis is that there is a variation in the areas allocated for wheat cultivation, with a change in yield and production quantity for the period (2004-2024) at the level of administrative units, and that this change is caused by the influence of natural and human factors.
