Abstract

Shiism, in its beginnings, has a spiritual character with Arab roots and a more clear and mature historical doctrinal character if it arose on the basis of belief in the Imamate of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him) after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), The choice of the Commander of the Faithful for Kufa as the capital of the Islamic state came about because it is characterized by political loyalty and a strategic geographical location that connects the regions, Since its inception, Kufa was distinguished by a society known for its loyalty to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), It is one of the most important centers in which Shiism appeared early in Islamic history, Historians described Shiism as a political and intellectual trend after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, where the dispute over the leadership of the Arab nation emerged, But after that, Kufa turned into a major center for Shiism and a capital of knowledge and scholars.
