This research (The Palace of Versailles: A Historical Study of its Origins and Architectural Development up to 1765, examines one of the most famous royal palaces in European history, and aims to trace the various stages of its construction from a small hunting lodge during the reign of King Louis XIII, to the building of its relatively modest initial structure. The study also examines the most significant architectural developments, expansions to the buildings and gardens, and various other structures that took place during the reign of King Louis XIV. It explores the roles of engineers, architects, and artists in the palace's design and construction, as well as the royal court's relocation to the palace and its subsequent adoption as the seat of government and administration for the French state. Additionally, the study delves into the most notable architectural additions made during the reign of King Louis XV and the palace's appearance throughout the 18th century.
