This research aims to uncover the morphological stages that the city of Qara Tepe underwent from its establishment until 1964 and to determine its future spatial expansion trends by examining the city's geographical characteristics. The study area suffers from unbalanced expansion, which necessitated an investigation into population changes and urban land uses throughout the city's morphological stages. This investigation highlights the variations in urban expansion processes from the city's establishment until 1964. The city witnessed a continuous increase in population, reaching 575 inhabitants during its first morphological stage and 1365 inhabitants during its 1964 morphological stage. The city's area during its first morphological stage was 14.1 hectares, and it reached 339 hectares in its final morphological stage. Therefore, the research concluded that the best direction for urban expansion is northeast due to the absence of natural or human constraints, and the city can extend towards it.
