Syntactic Structures Attested in Arabic as Similes: A Semantic and Contextual Study
Keywords:
Structures, Occurred, By Way of Simile, A Semantic and Contextual StudyAbstract
This research focuses on the grammatical structures reported from the Arabs by way of simile (analogy)—that is, structures bound to an Arabic context that cannot be fully understood except through it. The importance of this study stems from the fact that an accurate understanding of certain grammatical structures can only be achieved through their specific linguistic and cultural context. The research comprises two aspects: the first is theoretical, defining the concept of "structure" (al-tarkib) in Arabic grammar and its significances; the second is applied, analyzing a selection of the aforementioned grammatical structures. This is in addition to an introduction preceding them, a conclusion following them, and a list of references supporting them.
