Measurement (Qiyās) in Ibn al-Ṣāʾigh’s Book Al-Lumʿah in the Explanation of Al-Milḥah

Abstract

This study aims to present the topic of measurement (qiyās) in Arabic grammar from two main perspectives: the theoretical and the applied. This is because it represents a fundamental issue that linguistic studies have addressed. Based on the nature of the research, the theoretical section discusses: (the name and lineage; origin and upbringing; his death; verification of the attribution of the book; and its methodology). As for the applied section, it includes six issues from Ibn al-Ṣāʾigh’s Al-Lumʿah in the explanation of Al-Milḥah.
