This study aims, first, to demonstrate the status of Al-Sihah' by Al-Jawhari among Arabic linguistic works and dictionaries, as well as to highlight his familiarity with the books and narrations of the Prophetic Sunnah. Al-Jawhari relied extensively on hadith evidence, which further indicates that, after the Noble Qur'an, hadith constitutes a fundamental source of the Arabic language. Second, the study shows that Al-Jawhari cited hadiths according to the reports available to him, without examining their authenticity or determining whether they were sound or otherwise. Third, regardless of the classification or degree of a hadith, it possesses an origin and linguistic foundation in the speech of the Arabs, as Al-Jawhari illustrated throughout his work.
